When you’re ready for a real human.
Calyn isn't a replacement for a licensed therapist. When you want one, here's how to start looking, and how to arrive prepared.
Calyn is the conversation between conversations. When the right next step is a human, here’s how we help you take it.
How to start the search
We don’t match you with therapists, and we don’t run a partner network. What we can do is make the search feel less like a maze:
- Start with a directory you trust. Most countries’ professional psychology or psychotherapy associations run one. Your doctor or your insurer can also refer you.
- Filter by what matters to you. Modality, language, identity, sliding scale, availability. It’s fine to be picky; the relationship is a large part of what works.
- Talk to more than one. Many therapists offer a brief intro call. It’s normal to try two or three before it clicks.
What we don’t do
We don’t take referral fees from therapists. We don’t share your data with anyone in this process. We don’t try to keep you in the app when a human is the better answer.
Don’t arrive from zero
If you’ve been using Calyn, you can export a plain-language PDF summary of what you’ve been working on and bring it to your first session. It can save weeks of catching a new therapist up. You’ll find the export in your profile.
If you need someone urgently
If you’re in crisis, please use a crisis line first. They are staffed by trained humans, available now, free, and anonymous.
