A tool for the moments you can’t be in the room.
Calyn is built to complement your practice, not replace it. Here's what it can do for the people you work with.
Most of your clients’ lives happen between sessions. We’re trying to make those weeks less alone.
Between-session continuity
Clients can talk things through, process, and practice between sessions, in their own words, in their own time. Calyn is an AI companion that draws on evidence-based frameworks (CBT, ACT, IFS, motivational interviewing), with two modes: an open, hands-on Talk mode and a structured Session mode that runs a deliberate arc and closes with a recap and a small weekly plan.
Session summaries, on the client’s terms
Your clients can export a plain-language PDF summary of what they’ve been working on with Calyn and bring it to a session. Nothing is sent automatically, and nothing is shared with us or with you unless the client chooses to share the file themselves.
When a human is the right answer
Calyn is direct about its limits. When a conversation calls for human support, it says so and encourages professional care; our find a therapist page helps people start that search, and for crisis moments the only resource we surface is findahelpline.com. If you want to recommend Calyn to a client as a between-session companion, the honest starting point is our disclosures, which set out plainly what the app is and isn’t.
What Calyn won’t do
- Diagnose. We don’t claim to diagnose any clinical condition.
- Prescribe. We don’t recommend medication.
- Handle crises. Calyn is not a crisis service. It points people to findahelpline.com and local emergency services.
- Replace your work. We frame ourselves explicitly as a complement, in-product, from onboarding onward.
Partnership and research
We’re a small team, and we’re early. There is no clinical advisory board behind Calyn, and we don’t yet run outcome studies or formal pilots. If you’re interested in either, or simply want to tell us where the approach falls short, reach out.
Try it yourself
The best way to evaluate Calyn for your practice is to use it. Calyn is an iPhone app, available on the App Store, with a 3-day free trial. If you have questions, write to us.
